Introduction

Your life sucks.

You either hide behind a mask of smiles or you simply display how much your particular life sucks right now. Somehow you snap, just snap like a dam and all your emotions go rushing out. You break down either at home or school but you just can't take the pain any longer and you break. Somehow the school finds this a problem and consults your parent and or guardian about it. They say you are a danger to yourself and the rest of the school and you will be allowed to go to a Medical institute in Illinois.

As you are shipped off you arrive and find many others in the same situation as the therapists try to sugar coat your life. Suddenly you meet a boy who says that he has a way that will help you. He invites you to an abandon corridor in the institute where he shows you the other members. They are the dead poet society. They read poetry from their hearts and it drips off their tongue like magic as they read aloud and share.

But the society must be kept a secret from the Matryum who rules St. Joans because otherwise it will be disband and they would be sent to true asylums. As you decide to join the dead poet society or not you meet new friends. Everyone in the society talks of how they feel they are getting better. You feel free and rebellious by being in the society but soon the Matryum tries to destroy it using spies and agents, cronies of the Maytrum. It's your last link to freedom and happiness, the only way to get out of here or to be free from your pressures.

Will you fight for it?

The past few days had been quiet. Jesse was plotting. Well...at the moment he was wandering the halls, avoiding the nurses. There had been an uproar in one of the other halls, so he had slipped past them and into the unfinished ward. Maybe wolfboy would be up in his rafters again. When he arrived, Jesse didn't smell the tell-tale scent of incense. Just the cold air that whipped around him. The cold wasn't so bad. At least not now. It didn't matter, anyways. He was trying to get some peace of mind. Some time alone. Where he wasn't shoved in therapy, or being told what to do, or being forced to do things that he really, really didn't want to do. These things included arts and crafts. What did they think he was? Five? Insolent bastards. He flicked his hair away from his face, sighing heavily.

There was nothing of interest out here. Just nails sticking up everywhere, and no protection from the elements. Jesse muttered to himself, wandering up and down the hall. It was the third time he paced the perimeter when something hit his foot. It was big, wooden, and strange. He frowned, and bent down to pick it up. Odd. Hollowed out. He looked it over a few times, then laughed. Probably something the damn beast boy left laying around. It was intriguing though. He would keep it. Just for kicks. Maybe somebody inside would know what it was. With that, he tucked the item under his coat, as bulky and strange as it was to walk after that. Jesse slipped back into the legal parts of the asylum, wandering the halls. Light was breaking. People were wandering the halls. Visiting hours had started. He watched as a doctor, practically cradling a small, barely conscious patient and carried her towards the common room. This is where most visits where. He stopped, watching out of sheer curiosity.

It was Sadie. At one of the tables sat a petite, brunette woman. Jesse tipped his head. Sadie seemed heavily drugged, but still not pleased to see her. Odd. Jesse sat there, just around the corner, watching. The woman was her mother, presumably. They shared features. She had Sadie's eyes, dark and unforgiving, but hers were heavily made up and framed by bangs. Her hair was much longer, pin straight, and carefully styled. In short, she was pretty, even though her age showed on the edges of her eyes. Practically a grown up Sadie. The hair was too light, nearly blonde. Either way, it was a sight to see. Sadie was squirming, refusing to look the woman in the eyes. It looked more like a courtesy call than a mother and her child.

Jesse grew bored of the exchange, and made his way to show everyone his discovery.

The days had been reletively...okay to Leland. Doctors didn't give her that much trouble even though she was blatantly disrespectful to the staff. Then again, they must have had to deal with a lot of it in the day not to really give a damn. It was early morning, somewhat on the cusp of people waking up and being active and others not even trying to wake themselves up for the day. But Leland walked with a pep in her step. She had a job to do for the time being. Walking into the unfinished ward, she was searching. Looking up at the ceiling for an opening. She remembered that Jesse had said something about a hideaway that lacross had in this place and knowing her dear cousin, he had his as a high rise.

She noticed a large hole in the ceiling and tilted her head to the side. "bingo."Looking around, she pushed a large box just under the hole and climbed up the second level and started looking in the rooms. Several empty rooms started to frustrate her to nearly calling off the search until she came across a room at the end of the hall. The light coming from the dawn was just enough for her to see what was inside the room. A smile that only came from baleful intent snaked across her face.

Furs hung from the walls along with bones feathers and other animal remains that had been carefully defleshed and had designs carved into them. Jars of herbs, bones and some kind of ointment in smaller jars lined the floor. Everything that brought the memory of her beastial cousin was here. This was his den.

She walked out of the room, and returned with a loose pipe and stood in the middle of the room. "Freak doesn't even deserve half this stuff. Thankfully the blame won't be on me. Idiot won't even know what what hit him." She said with a sick smile on her face. She swung wildly, destroying almost everything that was in the room until there was nothing left to break. A job well done in her mind as she dropped the pipe and bent down to pick up the smaller jars. She stuffed them into her pockets and darted off back into the legal parts of the asylum to drop off most of the jars in her room. Taking one with her to experiment with for the time being. Giving the new to jesse was a bit of a 'priority' too, but that could wait until she saw him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The beast was gone for the time being, but always it left him without a voice and more animal then human. He was tired, exhasted and more importantly fearful. Sadie and Svean had tried to help him last night and who knew what the beast had done to them in it's rage. He opened the door to his room, looking around for staff that might be around. None on any side of the hall, safe to go out for now. He noticed that the note that he had tried to give to svean was on the ground. He sighed, but understood. His haste probably knocked it out of his shirt. I'll give it to sadie. She'll read it.' he thought to himself as he trotted out of the hallway and started to wander the building.
He made a stop by sadie's room, scribbling 'read first, then give it to svean' on it before heading off the unfinished parts of the asylum. But almost imminently, something felt wrong.
Horribly wrong that it made him rear up on his legs and run toward where his den was. He noticed to box where he would normally jump up to the second floor of the ward and started to pant. Horrible things started to run through his mind, but none could rival what he found.
His den had been violated. Broken bones, and shattered peices of glass everywhere. The furs and hides torn and thrown about like trash and herbs everywhere. To threaten a friend was one thing, but this was too far. The pipe that did the job was still here, thrown into the middle of the floor like trash. His home was ransacked. A sacred area defiled. Then a thought crossed his mind. Looking around frantically in the rubble, he searched in vain for the one thing that would have probably survived. His carved hunting horn.
Without it, the only semblance of home was gone. Something a certain someone stove to do. Accusing him of "getting in his way." Jesse had already raised his ire with a previous stunt, but this overrode his thought. He had destroyed his home and stolen something that was sacred for his own greed or pride. Now his blood called and not even voices of reason could calm him.
He dropped down from the second floor and ran on all fours, back into the legal part of the asylum. Anger drove him to his hunt, but was impeded by staff.
"Lacross, it's time for breakfast." One of the doctors said, behind him large orderlies that moved in on him to grab his arms. Adrenaline raged through his body as he fought off the orderlies. The doctor managed to get out of the way long enough to call to the Matryum about the violence that was happening before him.
"Lacross Cromwell is going on a rampage. The orderlies are down and-" The radio was crushed in his hand and the doctor knocked out by a clawed punch to the face. Blood from the unconscious and bleeding orderlies stained is hands and face as he started to run through the asylum. The smell of blood driving him on, maddening him as the hunt went on. Smarter patients moved out of his way and nurses from all over the asylum where starting to call in for back up. A roar rang out, loud enough for those with a good ear could hear it and cringe. Doctors and orderlies fell to him as they tried to contain him, it was only a matter of time before jesse's blood would be shed. His anger rivaled no other, but this was not the beast...this was the rage of loosing his home.
The visit with her mother had left her angry, tired, and miserable. The orderlies had been dragging her from place to place. Trying to shove pills into her mouth that just wouldn't go. She kept spitting the pills out in the nurses' faces. In the end, a stubborn Sadie and a tired orderly led to her being shoved into her room and forgotten about. Sadie was currently laying on her bed, on her stomach, head on the foot end of the bed, feet on the headboard, peering out her door from under a mass of sheets and blankets. She was stalking anyone who passed in the hallway with quite a miserable look on her face. It was hard to see her as her room was dark, so it was mostly her seeing them and them not seeing her. She preferred it this way. At least, that was, until Lacross passed. She went to call him, but her voice caught in her throat. Even now he looked inexplicably weary and off. None the less, he left a piece of paper near her door.
She was slow to getting up, snatching up the note. Something she had to read. Sadie frowned, then crept back to her bed, crawling back into the little nest she had built for herself and making a process of unfolding the note. Tired eyes began to read, her grip on the paper light but steady. What was so important that he couldn't come find her and tell her himself? And that she needed to bring it up to Svean? Speaking of such, she hadn't seen Svean since Lacross'...incident. Sadie bit her lower lip, only getting a few words in when she heard commotion. Screams. People running about. Something was wrong. Sadie nearly slammed her face into the pillows. She didn't want to deal with this anymore. She was tired. Borderline contemplating taking her life because it was something to do. Was this what life was? The screaming and chaos meant nothing to her until she heard the name blaring from one of the frantic nurses' radios. Lacross.
This made it matter. Sadie scrambled out of her bed, nearly falling off. She tucked the note into her pocket, scampering out into the hallway. Where was he? There was chaos. Patients screaming, the howl of Lacross from gods knew where, the orderlies panicking and trying to keep control of the place. It was all going to hell. As if it couldn't be worse, there came Jesse, from god's know where. With a grin on his face that made her uneasy.
"Get out of here, Jesse. Lacross is having one of his fits and if he sees you, he just might rip your head off." Her voice was even, but cold, warning. A storm brewed in her eyes.
"The orderlies will take care of the dog. I've got something I want you to see." He produced the carved wood. Whatever it was. He twisted it around, held it up for Sadie to get a good look. Her perplexed expression induced laughter from him. "Picked it from his den."
Sadie's expression hardened from curious to furious in .2 seconds. "You piece of shit!" She spat out. Too much time with her mother. "You go give that back, right now," the hint of a southern accent started to hint in her voice, warning at an anger that was a force to be reckoned with.
"Or what? Tell me. Are you going to send your pet after me? He's off rampaging like an idiot over something. Again. Is that what a friend does, Sadie? Acts like a dog and refuses to acknowledge you? Huh? You've been skulking in there since your mother left. Does he even talk to you anymore?"
"Not your business! Not your business!" She hissed, standing up as tall as she could and reaching to try and snatch the item from Jesse, who held it high out of her reach. "He is my friend, and you will never be anything to me! You are nothing! Nothing at all!"
Jesse never could handle rejection. Sadie saw the clock hands shift, and knew it was time to either run or fight back. Her flight instinct kicked in, and she ran like a cat from being stepped on. Her small body was fast, and would fit in places that nobody else could fathom. Jesse ran after her, screaming at her and waving the wooden thing he had stolen from Lacross' lair. their chase led to the unfinished ward, and with Sadie ducking in a small area between a wall and a ton of lumber. Her small body was tucked in a very tight crevice that allowed her to see him but not him to see her. Not that he could fit, anyways.
"Come on out! If you had just been complacent in the first place...I wouldn't have to have done this. Why are you being so difficult? He can't love you, Sadie. He's a goddamn animal. There is no prince that you can unveil by finding a rose. It's all bullshit. He's gone! They'll lock him in solitary and you'll never see him again! So come out! Let's go!"
His confidence churned her stomach.
The staff were in a frenzy to contain Lacross, already he had taken down legions on them without slowing down. Now they had lost him, but Lacross was all but lost. He still had thought and rational, meaning he had the cunning to get away unnoticed even in all the commotion he had caused. He had made his way from the legal part of the asylum to the darker parts again. He eyes adjusted to the darkness for the lack of light he.
He was quiet here, almost unnaturally quiet for the place and for his anger that raged through him. From what he knew of Jesse and from him asking around, He was a creep. Attacking one of the nurses sometime ago for god knows what and making any female he was around very unconfortable. Most of them gave Lacross credit for even when he was more animal than human, those that he talked to said that he knew when to call it quits and earn their respect in someway. Which is why when some one started messing with him, people that knew him often didn't do anything or report him. It was just how he was. And nothing more.
Lacross had been one to call out jesse on his antics and it seemed that he couldn't take rejection all that well. So childish. And yet such an unrelenting menace. To destroy a place that someone held sacred. That was just unforgivable.
The crawled along the dark end of the hall, looking. Watching. Waiting for his chance. Maybe an orderly would come by looking for him. Another great pleasure to take another one down. Other paitents were safe for they had nothing to do with this. He hoped sadie was safe either in her room or far from this place. Jesse, however....
"Come on out! If you had just been complacent in the first place...I wouldn't have to have done this. Why are you being so difficult? He can't love you, Sadie. He's a goddamn animal. There is no prince that you can unveil by finding a rose. It's all bullshit. He's gone! They'll lock him in solitary and you'll never see him again! So come out! Let's go"
he is that stupid... he thought to himself as he watched him rant to nothing, possibly a hiding sadie. Smart girl, he thought to himself as he got himself out of his corner vision. He tucked his nails in so they wouldn't make any noise and quickly got behind him.
"You are not the smartest to come here..." He said before dead-legging both legs and pulling his head by the hair so he wouldn't be able to fight.
"You should have known that I would come for you after what you did to my home, right?" He said calmly, but with venom lacing every word. He gave a clear view of his teeth, four longer than normal canines. Almost like that of an animal. "You have been nothing but trouble to everyone here and unless you want to be dragged back to your room in a body bag then tell me what you intend to accomplish in this way?"
He pulled at his hair so that he was bending backwards to face him. There would be no fight for the fact that he knew sadie was somewhere here. It was probably safer that way. But there was something else that had to be done.
"Drop. The. Horn."
Suddenly, there was a voice. A growl. An angry voice. Jesse hardly had time to comprehend before something grabbed him and incapacitated him with a swift blow to his legs. He made a sharp noise of discontent and anger as his head was pulled back, and he was questioned about his damn hideout and threatened. He wanted to know why. Jesse laughed darkly, only to be greeted with Lacross' face as he was yanked to look up at him in an awkward angle. The horn dropped from his hands as he focused them on grabbing at Lacross' wrists in irritation. "Well, well, well, look who decided to show up." He hissed and roughly grabbed at his captor with full force, twisting and curling around to at least face him. His face was red with anger and fear, his body standing straight but in a manner that betrayed his nerves.
Why was he always in the way? Why couldn't he just go away? "I want you gone, you idiot! Just go away! Stop getting in my way! Stop fucking everything up!" Because Sadie didn't have a mind of her own, clearly. Lacross was his obstacle and he was going to tear him to bits if it didn't kill him first. Jesse glared at him, slowly backing away from his opponent. It was going to be like this, huh? Jesse thought it was going to be so simple, just tear him to bits and have him put in solitary, then disappear. "If you kill me, they put you away for good. You touch me, they put you in solitary again. I'm sure they're going to as soon as they find you. I can make it so much worse, so just back off. Quit getting in my way. It's that simple."
His logic, to most, made no sense. Lacross could snap his neck there. But Jesse was intent on getting to his goal. His revenge. His prize. She was in there somewhere. "I want a chance! Nobody ever gave me a chance! I come here, and I just want to talk to people, but you saunter around like you own the place! Get in my way! Won't let people talk to me! Won't let them make their own choices! Huh, Sadie?!" He turned, talking loudly to the empty hallway, unable to pinpoint her dark hiding spot. "Your goddamn wolf friend is here to save you again! From what? Huh? Your own goddamn decisions!"
That was enough. Something snapped in her frantically beating heart. Too many days off her medication, too much stress, and being taunted took its toll on Sadie. She slowly crawled out of her small hiding area, her dark eyes holding a fire that rivaled the gates of hell. "Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?" Jesse nearly stumbled at the sound of her voice. It was smoother, not the gentle, tentative sound it usually was. It provoked fear and anxiety, instead of giving off the vibe of the confused and hurt little girl. A lower tone, a vicious bite to her words. There was danger in the air. "You see, I can make my own damn decisions. So can he. You're just an idiot." She hissed sharply, a warning to anyone that got near her.
"Oh, yeah?"
"Don't patronize me!" An anger that was so deep seeded, years of rejection and being forced to comply and having to suffer her fears alone in the dark had all but shaped this moment.
"What're you going to do? Send your pet after me?"
The way she moved was terrifying. A mix between fluidity that moved with the angry wind to something akin to a child in a horror movie. Sadie was in his face, although a few inches shorter. "Would you like to deal with me instead?" She growled. Sadie was tiny and not exactly threatening looking, but her temper was something to be reckoned with.
"Think I'm afraid of you?"
"You should be." What happened next could have been missed in the blink of an eye. Jesse grabbed Sadie, and she reacted by wriggling and shrieking like a trapped animal. This wasn't the sweet, quiet girl the orderlies knew. This was the girl that had tried to kill herself. The one whose mother rejected her. The girl that was left to grieve a father she barely knew. Jesse was struggling with her because she was small, but much like a feral animal in the way that she writhed. After a few moments of fighting, Jesse yowled out, and blood poured from part of his neck. Sadie spat out something solid, her teeth stained red. A reflex from him, and another scream from her. He had her by the hair. Like they were two teenagers in a schoolyard battling it out. Sadie writhed and yelped, then sharply kicked him straight between the legs, prompting him to release her, her body dropping and her jaw smacking hard into the ground.
"I don't want you! You hear me! You leave him alone!" She drawled slightly, grabbing at a now swollen jaw. "Destroy the people I love and I'll destroy you! I don't have anyone else! Leave him alone! Messing with him won't make me want you!" Jesse was now cowering away from her, grabbing at the fresh wound on his neck and glaring at Sadie, who was scrambling backwards, away from him, away from Lacross, totally unable to process what she had just done. She clamped a hand over her mouth, disgusted by the taste of blood in her mouth.
Lacross wanted to kill, He truly wanted to kill this son of a bitch before anyone else was hurt. Something in him was going to kill him, even looking at him now betrayed his very nature. However, from the upper reaches of the unfinished ward, he could see figures crawling about. Human looking, but unable to really look at due to the darkness. He could surely hear their voices though.
"no"
"Not yet."
"Son of a bitch should die here."
Jesse's tanting of Sadie made him want to snap his neck there, but this caused something in sadie that made him back up in unexpected fear. Sadie's voice was something that it usually wasn't, it should have provoked fear in jesse, but being the idiot he was...got him a bit to the neck.
The was an audible "Ow." that not only came from him, but others that were lurking in the darkness. A vicious neck wound that only an angry animal would make and it made jesse cower. Like the pathetic prick should. He would check up on Sadie in a minute. For him, there were other matters to attend to.
The sauntered up to jesse and clawed him across the face, marking him for a reason that only understood. He knew very well that the clawing would possibly need stitches for how deep it was. The beastial male forced him to his feet and forced him against the wall, to look him in the eye.
"You listen to me, whelp. As long as I am alive in this place and the scent of your blood is the air, I can find you. You lack the understanding of the word no, so let me help you a bit." A swift punch to the jaw, the same spot that he had just clawed. "I have heard of your reputation around the asylum and almost everyone seems to agree with me that you should be in solitary just as much as me. But that's too sweet a punishment for you."
Another swift punch to the jaw again, serving only to fuel the fire in his veins. "I have ways of keeping your kind in line, and by the looks of it, you might not even survive that. Now run. I'd rather not waste mind and death's time with you any longer." he said dropping him, letting him nurse his own wounds.
He dropped to all fours again, crawling quickly over to sadie. His hands were shaking from the urge to kill, but that would be later. No matter the circumstance, death would be too sweet for him. He didn't have permission to die just yet. "Are you alright little one?" he said as the voices around them seemed to direct their scorn and discontent toward jesse.
"He should have killed you here..."
"you should know no mercy whelp..."
"Torture would be a nice compared to what he can do to you..."
He took an ice pack he had stolen from the med room from inside his sleeve and offered it to Sadie, seeing the swelling of her jaw. He had his back to jesse, but was still tense, one leg and one arm were out to the side in case he made a move on them. Any move would mean trouble to him.
Anger. The entire room radiated with rage. Sadie watched Lacross' blatant abuse of Jesse, her hands squeezing into fists, her nails leaving little crescents in her palms. Jesse slumped to the ground like a rag doll, only moving once he was out of reach and starting to press madly at the blood that was dripping from both his face and his neck. Soon enough, Lacross was at her side. Speaking to her. Sadie looked up at him, only taking the ice pack after a few moments of staring at it in confusion. Right. Her jaw. How could that not have processed? She pressed the cool pack to the affected area, wincing at both the feeling and the acceptance of what she had done. This had really put her in a bad place. Biting another patient? That was grounds for solitary. Sadie went white, staring beyond Lacross, at Jesse, as if suddenly comprehending that she should be scared of him. He couldn't hurt her, but his words could get her locked in a small room, and rejected from the world forever. But she had tried so hard.
"No!" She finally answered his question vehemently, her voice that horrible cross between her natural voice and the one that she had taken on when assaulting Jesse. A fight between her calm, rational mind and the insanity that caused her to snap and kill anything in sight that got in her way. She had her own demons. Never as sensitive or as severe as Lacross', and never permanent. But just enough to cause her stay here. Her thoughts swarmed her, and she shrieked, tormented by everything going on around her. Sadie lunged forward, grabbing Lacross by the furs and sort of diving under them. Searching for something human. Not the huge mask of furs and shielding of his animal side. She tucked herself against him, practically buried under his furs, pressed to his chest. The noises she made weren't understandable. Just pure shrieks and moans of fear and agony. The pain repressed for long, once more, provoked and brought to light. And in the end, he was the only one who stuck around long enough to see it. She had seen his dark side and now he, hers.
"Do you see why they left me here?" She croaked, her grip strong on him. "I'm a monster." She nearly choked on those words, shaking at the words. She could hear Jesse moving, the fact that he was still alive causing her entire body to tense and nervous goosebumps to shoot up her arms and chest. He wasn't trying to get near them, but she knew in the end that he was going to tell the Matryum everything. That was if Lacross didn't write her off as a freak. The girl who bit out people's flesh. The monster behind the gentle mask. She squeezed her eyes shut, hot tears rolling down her face.
Lacross nearly reeled back from sadie's answer, but soon found himself to hiding place and source of confort for a scared girl. She sobbed and moaned in anger in saddness, lessening his own rage at the moment. He wrapped his arms around sadie, letting his furs hide her from the outside world. "You are not a monster sadie. You did what thought would keep you from harm." He said, cooing and hushing her like a attentive father to his own child.
The voices in the upper reaches of the ward started trying to comfort the girl, someone they didn't know but was obviously hurt by the pain that life had afflicted upon her.
"Don't cry..."
"You'll be alright kiddo, don't worry..."
"We're here if you need anything..."
Lacross could feel her tense up from the sound of jesse rustling behind him. She continued to comfort sadie in anyway he could, eventually nuzzling the top of her head and rubbing her back and shoulder to try and calm her down. The loyal pup had returned to lacross as the beast's rage subsided to trying to comfort. Even the best inside him knew when someone was hurt.
Was he going insane? Voices and pain swarmed him. Jesse moaned, holding his head and kicking at nothing as the mix of the unexplained voices and Sadie's shrieking charged him. What the fuck was going on? What had they done? Where were these voices coming from?! He wasn't crazy, they had to be there somewhere! Jesse refused to accept that he couldn't see or comprehend the source of the noises. He just wanted them gone. "Shut up! Just shut up!" Well, that would seal his fate if nobody else could hear the voices. Part of him wanted to slink away, just crawl back to the main ward, away from these two freaks. Let them do whatever it was. If she was that vicious, then maybe he didn't want anything to do with her, anyways. The voices directed their attention to her, which really confused Jesse. How hard had he been knocked in the head?
"I didn't touch your damn den. I can't even reach it. It was your stupid cousin." He muttered, mostly to himself out of spite and a bit of immaturity. It didn't matter if Lacross didn't acknowledge his statement, or called him a liar. What more could he do to him? Jesse winced as he sat up a little and pulled himself back, further away from Sadie and Lacross. The voices around him still swirling and causing him the utmost confusion. He decided not to mention it. Having anyone witness him hearing "voices" was not something he needed right now. He was abused, not a skitzo. Right? Right. He was better than these animals. They needed to be put in their cages.
It could have been an eternity, but it was only a few minutes. Sadie's locked grip on Lacross released, and she slowly slipped away from him. She closed her eyes for a moment, slowly inching down and kneeling on the ground. There she sat, the ice pack pressed to her swollen and slightly discolored jaw. Jesse continued to murmur and squirm, clutching at his head, even though that was hardly the problem. Sadie opened her eyes and looked at him, then let out a small, pained laugh.
"Shut up!" Not even directed at her. Just Jesse spazzing out and trying to get rid of the voices he didn't know were from other human beings. "Shut up goddamn you! You won't get away with this!"
"Won't I?" She responded, her voice slightly muffled as she nursed the ache in her jaw. "Who is going to believe the boy who screams at empty air?" Sadie tipped her head at him for a moment or two, then smiled weakly again. Tears were still present on her face, but not fresh in her eyes. It reflected in the moonlight whenever she moved a certain way, a reminder of just how fragile the human mind was. "Go on. Tell them little Sadie tore you up. Go ahead." She murmured softly, slowly rising to her feet and brushing off her knees. "See how fast they start medicating you, too."
It was present in her voice, the way she spoke, the words she chose, that she was far from the girl that everyone had met. There was a reason for the medication, the intense therapy, the reason why her mother sent her here. Sadie was dangerous in her own ways. She could manipulate, lie, and sweet talk just as well as Jesse, just in her own way. Off her meds, she fought between two extremes. The self destruction, where she was a monster and wanted to die, and the hatred, where everyone in her path needed to be destroyed.
"Go on. Go tell them." She warned him, venom in her voice. She was rising on her roller coaster of moods again, and the jaded look in her eye betrayed her lack of control. "Tell me how that goes after you get out of solitary. Maybe once you get out, you'll learn not to mess with my friends." She looked at him, then looked at Lacross for quite a while, wordless.
"Do with him what you will. Or you can come with me and sit with me until they start shoving needles in our arms." Her voice cracked a little, and a bit of a broken smile came to her face. A defeated, but accomplished at the same time sort of feeling. She had defeated her fears, but now had to face the consequences. She knew the orderlies were going to come eventually and yell at them and punish them just for the ruckus in the corridors earlier. She knew Lacross had come here on a rampage, and they were going to deal with it accordingly. Jesse started cursing and spitting at her. No response. Sadie bowed her head, folded her hands in front of her, and calmly started her way back towards the finished corridor. Her gait was a cross between a defiant teenager and a wobbly toddler.
Lacross tilted his head to the side, slightly confused about what had just occurred. This isn't the sadie he knew, but then again she probably hadn't been taking her medicine at all for the past couple of days. It wasn't like he could talk about medication since he hadn't taken his since he had gotten admitted usually thrown out the window or cheeked for disposal anyway. Nothing was right today. His den gone, Sadie actually fighting against someone bigger than her and winning and now he had a headache.
"You alright cross?"
One of the voices from earlier started to climb down from the upper reaches of the unfinished ward. A female with slightly fuzzy robe on. Long strawberry blonde hair was messy at best and tied in a bun and her nails were just as long as his own. "Yeah, just a headache now." He said, holding his head. "She surprised most of us with that display. Never though she had it in her from what you told us." She rubbed her head against his shoulder in affection. "Almost like seeing a little sister go through her first fight."
"Well that is what she is like to me." Lacross cut in, nuzzling the girl back. "You got my message from the other day. Jesse still won't give up his pursuit of her." lacross looked over at him, giving a short but loud snarl at the man. "I know I don't have much time before solitary, but she will come to you if she has head the note I gave her. I doubt jesse knows about you all, so he'll be in for a surprise."
The female licked his cheek and turned his head to look him in the eye. "If she is important to you, then we will care for her like we took you in Cross. Solitary won't take you for long." The female said, knocking her forehead to his.
"It is still a danger to me, You know of the DPS and tell them. I know it won't be announced because of the chaos." Lacross purred a bit before kissing the girl's lips lightly. "I have to go. If I'm not in the cafeteria by within the hour, they have me. But sadie is safe from the orderlies. She's small and not a threat to them."
With that, lacross left and the female climbed back up the the upper reaches of the asylum. The orderlies and doctors armed with needles were still looking for him made his trek to the cafeteria tougher than it should have. Then again, the dried blood that coated and cracked off his hands and claws weren't the best indicator of sanity.
Sadie reached the finished part of the hospital, not quite able to look anyone in the eye. There was still chaos. A nurse swooped in and grabbed Sadie at the sight of her, blood in and around her mouth, the swollen jaw, the crazed look in her eye giving her away. She didn't give much in way of words, and was ushered off to the infirmary. Due to her history of being quiet and non threatening, she was mostly questioned on the basis of, 'who did this?' instead of trying to ask what she had done to anyone else. She could hear the orderlies on their radios, all frantic and worried, trying to find Lacross. The nurse noted the way Sadie stared at the radio, turning it down and quietly asking again who had done this to her. Sadie closed her eyes, not keen on being asked a million questions. Getting Jesse thrown in solitary would be fantastic, but if he opened his big mouth, Lacross would end up there, too. Well...she was sure he was going to end up there whether Jesse opened his big mouth or not.
"Sadie!" The sound of her name snapped her out of her dark thoughts, and she stopped, staring at the nurse. "I asked you who did this." The nurse insisted firmly, moving to eye level with her and staring her in the eye. Sadie shook her head quickly, wincing a little at the feeling of the nurse's responsive hand grabbing her by her jaw. "Look at me." Sadie glared, but it was close enough. "Tell me who did this. Right now." Sadie was known to be cooperative and answer questions well. Not today.
"Was it him?" She pointed towards the doorway, indicating anyone that was out there, but Sadie knew what she was insinuating. "Lacross would never hurt me." She hissed sharply, dark eyes narrowing dangerously.
"I know he's your friend, but he's not in his right mind right now. He can't hurt you now."
"He didn't hurt me!" Sadie's shrieks could have rattled the windows. The nurse was on her in the blink of an eye, armed with a needle and a quick, agile prick to the arm. "I think you'll find your disgusting culprit half dead in the unfinished ward." Sadie spat, her eyes rolling up and down as she felt the nauseating warm feeling that the sedative brought to her system. It was disgusting. It felt disgusting. She always felt horrible when she woke. But so it was. She was quickly moved to a private room in the infirmary, the door locked for both her and other's protection. On the locked door was a folder, marked 'Sarah Blarke.'
Meanwhile, in the unfinished wards, Jesse was seething. Part of him was snapped. Part of him wasn't sure what was real and what was fake anymore. His head ached, his neck was still somewhat bleeding, and he was nowhere near steady on his feet. But Lacross would pay for what he had done. Sadie, too, for that thought. Not at the very current moment, but he would make sure the both of them would suffer. Jesse growled, leaning against the wall heavily as he moved towards the finished parts of the ward. His trek was long and painful, and when he found his way into the main ward, he was met with questions and mocks from other patients. Jesse yelled out and screamed at anyone that got too close to him as he moved. Sadie was nowhere to be found. Her and Lacross both, apparently. Not like he could exact his revenge now.
His walk was cut off as a nurse approached him. Something about something...he was dragged into the infirmary and questioned heavily. It ended with him yelling about how it was all Lacross. He put all blame on him, intent on getting himself off of trouble. But now it was Jesse's word against Sadie's, neither really stable enough to be trusted. Jesse was treated for his wounds, then promptly drugged and brought to solitary confinement. Their main concern was most likely grabbing Lacross before he caused any more havoc in the hospital, judging his earlier behavior. The whole hospital was in chaos.
Lacross made his way around the chaos induced asylum with ease. waiting for orderlies to pass from a hiding spot, knocking out any doctor or orderly, nurse, or doctor that managed to find him. It wasn't long until he made it back to his room again. He sat in the floor again, staring at all the destruction that he had caused in the room during the beast's reign. The last thing he saw before blacking out was the look of fear on svean's face. "I hope you're alright friend." He whispered to himself as he sat and thought on the situation.
However, he didn't realize that he was being watched. His own cousin, along with a couple orderlies and doctors sat in wait.
"Are you sure he's not going to see us? he's already taken down half of the staff." One orderly said, now starting to creep around the corner.
"You'll be fine. He's calmed down now, You really want this danger roaming around the hospital just so he can attack someone else?"
The staff looked at each other. The girl had a point, and it did seem that lacross wasn't aware of them at the moment. Now was the time.
If anything could scare Lacross, it was an ambush. It all went so fast for him, the sting of needles, slashing of claws across someone's face as he tried to free himself to no avail. Soon, he was on the edge of dream land, slung over the shoulder of one of the orderlies and being taken to the solitary ward. Leland had a sly smile on his face, but had not found jesse as of yet. She shrugged. He was a bit annoying though, and seeing from how long he had been missing, he must of ran into her dear cousin before she would warn him. Oh well. It wasn't like she was playing for any team. She was just in it for her own gain.
When the world stopped spinning, and the horrible weight lifted from her head, Sadie opened her eyes. How long had it been? Enough time for her to know that the hospital was far too peaceful. She groaned, sitting up and examining her surroundings. A private room, but not her assigned room. She was in the infirmary. Right. Small feet met the floor and she cringed at the cool linoleum against her skin. She quickly moved towards the door, finding it locked. No, no, no. She didn't like that one bit. Dark hair flung into her face as she struggled with the doorknob, frantically peering out the small window. Doctors passed, only stopping when they saw her frantic face peering out at them. Slowly, the door was opened, and she practically fell into the doctor who met her.
"Easy, Sarah. I'm only here to help."
"It's Sadie."
"Sarah."
"Sadie." She insisted firmly, unsteadily backing up and landing on the edge of the bed, much like she was being cornered. Dark eyes were heavy and focused on the offending male. There was a moment of discomfort, before he finally broke and called her by her preferred, and in her mind, only name. "Alright, Sadie. Tell me what happened to you." She stared at him for a long moment, possibly a few minutes, her arms crossed. "Nothing." She murmured hoarsely, rubbing at her sore jaw and scowling at the thought of Jesse. Her stubbornness won over the doctor's persistence, and he let go, deciding she either didn't remember or was too confused to give him a straight answer. When he left, he didn't lock the door. Probably a mistake. Sadie waited for a while until it quieted down, then snuck out to the main hall. She could see that peace had returned to the asylum. It was really strange, to be honest. One minute, bloody mayhem, the next...nothing.
She moved quickly, pressed to the wall, avoiding the gazes of nurses and doctors. They had intended to keep her drugged up and quiet for a few days, she was sure. That wasn't exactly her answer. She could hear howling and screaming and cursing from a ways across the hospital. Jesse, screaming about the injustice from the solitary ward. Of course, she didn't approach. She snuck to her own room, shutting the door and pressing her small body against the door, yanking out the note that Lacross had shoved to her such a long time earlier in the day. Maybe the day before. She sat there, reading it over and over, biting her lower lip. All he had ever done is help. Protect her. Protect the people that he cared for. Acted like the brother she never had. And now where was he? Solitary? Miserable? Alone. Something dropped in the pit of her stomach. It was horrible. She had just left him. What was she thinking?
In fact, what the hell had she done? Had she lost control again? Sadie rubbed at her head. Too many days out of control. Too many days without being medicated and told what to do. Left alone and she had really messed everything up. And now what? She had to make things right...but how? Jesse was now out of her way...
Sadie got up, tucking the note into her pocket and clearing her throat. She peered out of her room, finding the hallway empty. Odd. Well...empty enough. She slowly crept around, weaving past nurses and doctors. She made herself as innocent looking as possible, trying to make her way towards the solitary ward. The increasing volume of Jesse's screaming and whining gave way that she was going in the right direction.
"Woah, you can't go in those rooms." She was stopped by a young but sturdy looking security guard. Sadie paused, chewing her lower lip and folding her hands in front of her. "I just want to sit outside the door." She murmured, and after a few moments of her giving the biggest eyes and him being weak to the bat of an eyelash, she slid past him. Jesse was still screaming about something. Sadie sat down outside his door, rolling her eyes. If he would shut up, that would be fantastic. The sound of her soft humming started to clash with Jesse's expletives, soon enough overtaking them as he quieted. She wasn't sure why he got quiet, but it brought a sense of peace for a few moments.
Darkness, numbness...Lacross could barely move, let alone speak as he started to return to his scenes and see his surroundings. Blackness. Not enough light to give him any semblance of what time of day it was. Walls and nothing more. Lacross moved as much as he could, but the drugs that had been pumped into his system still kept him immobile. He knew exactly where he was at this point: Solitary. He assumed that he would be placed here after the rampage he had went on earlier in the morning. But total darkness...there was no time here, no recognition of life...nothing but to commune with your darker half.
He managed to pull himself up to a sitting position and stare at the wall. Seeing that it was all that he could do. His fingers clicked together as he tried to get feeling back into them. As much as his facial expression didn't show it, he was afraid of this place. It was loneliness, a way to make someone talk. Or even to break someone's mind to dust. He knew what happens here, if here long enough, could leave him unable to return to sanity. The beast bellowed, screamed and festered under the very surface of his normal personality. It wanted out. It wanted revenge for the desecration of its home. It wanted blood to be spilled.
"no..." He muttered to himself as he started to sway a bit, still trying to get movement back into his body. He was lucky to still his furs on him, probably because he was already too violent to even bother. Lacross's mind started to wander. Where was sadie? Where was Svean? Are the two alright? What was done with jesse? Was he put into solitary as well? Have the rest of the voices found and given shelter to sadie? All these thoughts festered in the beastial male's mind. He snarled softly, knowing that the only thing he could do no was to sit and wait for the end...
Sadie could feel eyes on her back. She turned and looked at the guard. Okay, he was just hospital security. Rent-a-cop. Why was he looking at her like that? Sadie eyed him back, pausing her humming for a few moments. "Can I help you?" She said softly but steadily, her small hands folded in front of her. The less threatening she seemed, the better. It was probably confusing him because she was clearly a patient, but wouldn't exactly give him a conclusive idea of what was exactly wrong with her. He shook his head and pointed towards the door Jesse was locked up behind. "He finally stopped howling. What did you do?"
A small smile, just enough to reach her cheeks before disappearing. "Reminded him that he's not alone. Either that, or he fell asleep." She shrugged her shoulders, non nonchalantly, and began to pace the ward, humming softly to herself. It looked so casual, like she wasn't really paying attention and didn't have much of a goal, but in reality, she was pausing at each door, seeing if she could find her friend. Too high, too low, too noisy, too quiet. She barely recognized the various voices. Sadie knew damn well she shouldn't even be there, and that she could be punished if caught, but she kept going.
The guard just sort of lazily watched her, her hands pressed to the wall, as if feeling for something that wasn't there, bare feet pattering against the linoleum. It would have been a much more peaceful sight if she wasn't in a psych ward, searching for a friend in solitary, and humming trying to draw him out. It would have been much more suited to a bed of flowers and a warm summer day. Home. Sadie paused for a moment. Home used to be beautiful at one point. She sunk down against one of the doors, covering her face with her hands. Tears slid down her cheeks, but she didn't fully cry. It wasn't a horrible moment of sadness. It was one of remembrance. At one point in her life, she knew how to smile, how to laugh, and how to be like every other girl. Where was that? Where was the happiness?
"Why would you cage something that's scared?" Sadie's question caught the man at the door off guard. He shrugged, then moved towards her, taking her by the upper arm. "That's enough, let's go." He wasn't forceful, but she knew better than to push it. He led her back to the main wards, steering her towards the common area. Dejected, Sadie curled up on an armchair in the sitting room, glaring at some of the other patients. Her hand slid into her pocket, and she stared at Lacross' note again. This place seemed to be more of a danger to her than she was to herself. And she had caused him nothing but trouble. Then, he was trouble, himself.
Many patients talked among themselves in the sitting room, though the talk was mostly uniform. About Lacross's ambush and lock up in solitary. Some said that it was a welcome relief from the morning chaos that he caused almost every day. Others were fearful of what would happen if he where to get out. He had almost become a mythological creature among the patients. And for good reason.
Most sat at tables, indulging in idle chit-chat. However, there was one in the very back corner that most of the other patients seemed to avoid. About 7 or 8 people around the table, some sitting in chairs while others crawled on all fours, swiping at each other as if they had paws. Others crawled around the room on all fours, looking in sadie's direction, making it look like they weren't looking at her. However, they all wore almost the same thing. Some kind of furs, some had small bone, animal skulls or other animal parts sown into their clothing. Others looked disshuffled in apperiance, as if they had been living in the wild all their lives. But they all seemed to be watching the room, the females and some males at the table, while others wandered the room.
Leland sat at one of the other tables by herself, watching the staff make their rounds and the other patients make idle chat with each other. She had already heard that he was in solitary a while ago. Good riddence, his very presence next to her made her skin crawl. He knew that she would have to deal with him later once he got out. If he got out within the day, but she doubted that from the beating she had heard he had taken. She smirked to herself, but also felt a bit of guilt. Her cousin's den was sacred ground to him and she had torn it to shreds and put the blame on the asylum scapegoat. As much jesse deserved his time, She had not not seen lacross in years and still her grudge against him. She scratched her head, thinking of how to do away with the guilt. People watching would probably help the situation...somewhat.
Sadie was still for such a long time, that the staff had taken note. Had she gone comatose? No. She jumped when she was touched, sliding out of the armchair, pressing her back to the wall when approached. The nurse in question backed off, assuming that she was just tired or over-medicated. She was a little of both, but that wasn't the cause for her rigid sitting position. The note was still clutched in her hand as she looked around the sitting room, examining everyone. People watching. Some just were chit chatting, like they were normal or something. Some sat, looking angry and dejected. Some were crawling around, giving off the same sort of vibe that Lacross always did. Sadie peered at their small gathering, then looked at the note again, before tucking it into her pocket. She slowly approached, not quite sure how to handle herself. What if they hated her? She paused for a few moments, then just decided to go with it. She had been through enough the past few days to know that there wasn't much worse that could happen.
Slowly, she got closer to the back corner, her eyes wide and examining everyone, but not really judging. They didn't seem terribly hostile, but she still didn't feel in place. Sadie said nothing, just sunk down against the nearest wall, her knees tucked towards her chest and her big, dark eyes ever watching anyone or anything that passed. Here, she would hopefully be left alone. Jesse was wailing his lungs out in solitary, and the doctors seemed to have forgotten about her again. She really was forgettable, wasn't she? This didn't phase her. What phased her, was the sight of the tall girl. Tall, tan, and Sadie had seen her with Jesse a few days back. She looked at her for a few moments, her expression sour, but didn't make a move to speak to her. Sadie didn't know if Jesse had been as much of a creep towards her as he had towards herself. Why did she get such an uncomfortable feeling from her?
This was from the same person who hid from Lacross during their first meeting, but she digressed. Sadie just didn't like new or different people at first. She ducked her head, resting her forehead on her raised legs and wrapping her arms around herself. She practically looked ready to hide under a desk for a bomb to go off. In reality, she was just tired and wanted to be left be. Maybe the next few days would just melt away.
The group at the table peeked at sadie, never getting to close due to her looking a bit afraid of her surroundings. "I though she was a visicous little thing." One girl at the table in the cornered muttered to the others. "I think it was from her being off her meds. You know how some people get once this place puts you one meds." Another said back. They chatted among eachother, trying not to look like they were observing her. One looked over at her, watching her walking over to the table with hesitation. She waved her hand in a 'it's alright' motion.
Leland, on the other hand, started to nod off a bit. Becoming bored with the whole place. However, when she tried to walk out she was walked right back in. She muttered obsinities to herself, cursing the staff for keeping her here.
She was there for quite a while, just left to sit with her head tucked to her knees, until a nurse hooked her arm. Sadie looked up, startled, and heeded to a gentle reminder to get off the floor and sit in a chair. She stood there like a deer in the headlights for a few moments, then nodded, ducking her head. Her initial response was to grab a chair from an empty table. Sadie dragged it, the sound of it dragging against the floor breaking the silence that practically enveloped her. She firmly set the chair at the table that seated the strange patients that Lacross had mentioned. She was slow, as if trying not to set anybody off, and settled herself into the chair. Her large, dark eyes passed over them again, taking in small details and categorizing everyone as either safe or questionable. She didn't speak to them, instead sliding the note Lacross had given her onto the table. She folded her arms onto the table, then leaned forward so her chin rested on her arms. She was slumped over, no matter what damn chair a nurse or doctor shoved her into. Bad for her health, they said. Bad for her mental health. Bad for everything. Something would kill her eventually, anyways.
After a few minutes, she broke her muteness. "I don't know where he is." It was a simple but strong statement. A confession that she couldn't keep track of him, none the less herself. A question, as if any of them could lead her to him. A fear that he was alone and miserable. She couldn't fix him. She couldn't even give him the peace of mind that he always gave her. The brother she could have used plenty of years in advance. It was sickening. He was alone and she was sitting here in the common room, moping. It broke her heart. She didn't even know where Svean was so she could find him and talk about this. What would she say, anyways? That she had dragged Lacross into this mess and it was all her fault and oh could he help her find him? What if it was worse than solitary? Sadie sighed heavily and closed her eyes. Not asleep, just unable to face anyone right now. Depression at its best. She was helpless and just waiting for the nurse to jab something in her arm to make it all go away.
The strawberry blonde girl took the note and turned it over for all the others to see, some making small noises as they read the note. "We don't know where he is." one of the girls said, shaking her head in concern. Others looked at each other, murmuring about their missing friend. "They have him." The strawberry blonde spoke up, the rest of the group quieting down. "It's not your fault sadie. Lacross was only trying to do what he thought was right. However, it got him in solitary for who knows how long." She said. Fear could be felt in the group of girls at the table. The guys that where stalking around the room seemed to have caught the news as well and seemed to either shiver or give a face that could only be described as terror.
"As for you, he asked that we give you shelter and protection from this jesse character. One of the others had a run-in with him not to long ago and was luck enough to escape." The dark haired girl at the table shivered at them memory. "Creeper, Defiler. Wonder what his problem is." she said with a scoff. The subject of jesse wasn't a very popular topic at the moment. "If he knows where you room, then we can give you shelter from him. Granted if he's not already roaming around the Tortorem." She said, eyes shifting around the room as if looking for something.
"But the choise is yours small one. It was an offer lacross only intended to help with, but it seemed like he left it open for you to take or not."
Re: Dead Poets society
Oh, don't worry. he's harmless and pretty much non-invasive. But I've already got one on the hook who likes a belly dancer. XD
Re: Dead Poets society
Definitely, yes. xD It was kind of strange at first but he's cool.
Re: Dead Poets society
Ah, being that he's alot more...human than lacross. XD
Re: Dead Poets society
Culture shock when compared to Lacross. xD
There. Sadie sort of going back to normal. Ish. I tried.
Re: Dead Poets society
Take your time, I just got home from the airport not too long ago XD
But I am curious, what about my character gave you culture shock?
Re: Dead Poets society
I did, and it's quite a culture shock. xD
Working on my post and hating that the owners of both roleplays I've joined aren't getting on and doing their jobs...>__>
Re: Dead Poets society
Oh, don't worry about Lacross. he'll get his revenge. >D
Did you ever read the profile on my character?
Re: Dead Poets society
How nice. xD My new character has enough commitment issues to kill a Stepford wife. xD
And poor Lacross. ;__;
Re: Dead Poets society
Hazzah! My character already has a roommate with a Russian who has some vanity issues. But at least it evens out the amount of people. XD
On another note, across is gonna be pissed when he comes to his sences. XD
Re: Dead Poets society
I applied. Waiting for confirmation. I worked five hours on that profile...xD
Re: Dead Poets society
That calls my name, yesss it dooooes.
Re: Dead Poets society
I did find a new RP that's just starting up. it's called coming out. roleplay/coming-out/
Re: Dead Poets society
Or forever. Depending. XD
Re: Dead Poets society
Posting now. Running on 3 hours of sleep, so if anything is wonky, forgive me, and gently remind me in the morning to fix it. XD
Re: Dead Poets society
Short post, but it gets the point across.
I think jesse might think he's going a little crazy after what I have planned for him.
