Introduction

The year is 2036.
Twenty years ago, a global nuclear conflict utterly destroyed the world as we know it, shattering the known world into mere fragments of civilization, each desperately clawing at their surroundings for survival, etching themselves into niches premade in a violent fight to persist.

Our story takes place in one such fight, the Metro transit system underneath the Russian city of Moscow.

Many years have passed in the Metro, from the beginning when people still held hope in their inexperience, to now, where life underground is never taken for granted. Many people reside in the stations, either working to contribute in some manner or simply holding on as dead weight, still too stubborn to die. Several simply travel, either seeking a place of refuge or comfort in the Metro, and fewer still wander onto the surface, clad in equipment to protect themselves from the harsh conditions, only to return once again to the dark.

Technology has suffered, but human inventiveness has excelled. With limited resources, many have to rely on equipment that's cobbled together. Many items are impossible to replicate, which has led to a step backwards in technology in many places, the leading effect of this being the slow death of bright lighting, leading into the steady generational bleaching of skin color and sensitivity of sight. Lack of reliable crops outside of large-scale mushroom farms and a few animals brought from the surface (who have similarly suffered in the conditions) are the only source of food, and have become especially susceptible to disease.

Yes, life in the stations is bleak, but regardless, you must survive.

Throughout every threat, throughout every challenge, humankind have forced their way past them. Mutants, radiation, wars, they're all nothing in the face of technology and intelligence that have simply been cornered into a safe place.
The only question is how you survive.

This RP is primarily based off of the Metro 2033 novels, and takes place after the events of the last book, Metro 2035, with slight alterations to the story, hopefully creating a more player-based experience. While it is not required to have read these books, it is recommended to have some understanding of the setting which the books may assist with.

Due to the nature of this RP, character, armor, enemy, and weapon types and statistics will eventually be determined, so it is recommended that you stay tuned to the OOC forum discussion for the developments regarding those. I am willing to take assistance regarding this task, so if you feel like it, you can contribute to discussions. Dice rolls are likely to take a part, but the level of that is to be determined.

For the current time, players will not be allowed in the RP until the undertaking of developing the setting is finished, which may take some time. Even after that, I still have to develop the aforementioned items and enemy statistics and types, which will likely limit interactions.

For now, I will devote much of my free time to developing this RP, which may fluctuate with other tasks I have to undertake.

If there are any statements from players regarding a misinterpretation of events that took place in the novels, please contact me. It's been some time since I have read the books and I could use some guidance other than the Wiki.

Thank you for your time.

Metro: Nightfall - Mapping Developments

Heyo travelers, JB here.

So I've come to the realization that internal mapping of stations will be a long and arduous process, as it involves a lot of work to either fabricate their settings or to transfer game-based places into the corresponding stations, and that still leaves a lot of stations that are never mentioned in the books or games that I have to come up with information for.

Hopefully that will be easy as-is, but if anybody is interested in inventing locations inside of stations or authoring an independent station (one not adherent to a faction) I'd be glad to hear some correspondence, but it'll probably be some time until I even get to the independent stations.

Glad to give out updates!

Thanks, and as always,

Metro: Nightfall

This is the auto-generated OOC topic for the roleplay "Metro: Nightfall"

So the forums here are going to be primarily devoted to several different sections of development, mostly the ones that aren't the setting (although there will be a good portion on that).

I plan on having several segments devoted to:
- Game mechanics that allow for freer RP.
- Weapons and decided statistics.
- Gear/equipables and decided statistics.
- Updates until a playable version is reached (think like, a beta setup)
- Vehicles and Vehicle rules
- NPCs and monsters/enemies
- Player creation rules

A section devoted to suggestions is going to be created, as well as a place for questions regarding development and yada yada.
