The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
To say that the car ride to Camp Aloe was a bit painful is like saying that getting salt into a fresh cut smarts a little. Carli was sitting shotgun in her mother's car, not saying a word. Her ear-buds were jammed into her ears, so to the average bystander would think she was lost in her music. Wrong. She had turned off her music a long time ago, as she had found that every single song reminded her of Kyle, and it hurt. Carli glanced down at her nails, suddenly hating her choice to paint them bright yellow. "How dare you mock my pain, you with your unwavering happiness." She knew she must be going crazy, screaming at her fingernails, but she was fine with that. "Kyle did always call me loony, as a joke, but now I truly am going insane," Carli immediately regretted thinking that as her eyes began to well up with tears. She fanned her face and stared ahead, determined to control the waterworks soon to come.
"Hiya! I'm Linda Palmer, CEO here at Aloe. Name, please!" Chirped the check-in woman. Carli glanced the lady up and down, and was not very impressed with what she saw. In front of her stood an overweight 46 year old woman wearing a yellow sweat suit, a black back pack slung over her shoulder. The overall look she was giving off was bumble bee. "Carli-Anne Carter," Carli mumbled absentmindedly, her thoughts still on Kyle. "Great! You are in Oak Cabin," The woman pointed a pudgy finger in the direction of a large cabin. She moped her way over to the cabin, and threw her suitcase aside. She then collapsing onto the nearest bed, the first tears rolling down her rosy cheeks, carrying traces of mascara along with them.
Silence.
"Anna."
Silence.
"Damn it, Anna-Beth, would you cheer up?"
"No."
Andrew growled, and cranked the radio volume higher, brow furrowed in annoyance. She was so easily bruised, his twin. She'd done nothing but cry since they'd gotten in the car, and it was really getting on his nerves. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel of the old convertible, weighing his options, when she whipped her head around to stare at him.
"Aren't you upset?" she sniffled, "She hurt you, too!"
"Not even. I'm just fine. Now c'mon, we're here." He pulled the car to a stop and stepped out, slinging both his and his sister's bag over his shoulders, and walking around to open her door. The tiny sprite of a girl stepped out of the car and buried her face in her brother's chest, a fresh round of tears making their way down her face.
"Oh, c'mon now, Anna...no more. It's gonna be better soon. I'm gonna be here, and I ain't goin' nowhere, get it?" he smiled soothingly, grabbed her hand, and started to drag her towards the front, keeping her tiny fingers captured in his own.
"Andrew and Anna-Beth Anderson," he told the counselor woman stiffly, who smiled and looked at her clipboard. Andrew decided he hated clipboards, and Anna-Beth just stared at her.
"She looks like a bumble-bee," she whispered to her brother, who tried not to laugh, and snorted instead.
"Andrew, you'll be in Oak cabin, and Annie-Beth, in Maple."
"It's Anna-Beth. Anna," she coughed gently, trying to ignore the worried look on her brother's face.
"We aren't in the same cabin?"
"Nope!" the woman kept smiling. Andrew decided he hated her smile as much as he hated her clipboard.
"Sorry, but rules are rules!" the woman chirped cheerfully, "Go ahead and follow him to your room, and Andy, go up to yours!"
"My name is ANDREW." He hissed right in the woman's face, dumped his sister's bag on the ground, and stormed up to the cabin. He slammed inside, tossing his bag on a bed, and began to search through it desperately. He ignored the girl on the other bed, and stared directly into his bag, his search becoming more feverish.
Anna-Beth stooped and picked her bag up, before tip-toeing up to the cabin, slipping inside and keeping as quiet as possible. She crawled onto one of the beds, closed her eyes, and curled up as small as she could possibly get. She bit her tongue to stay silent, and hugged her knees into her chest, sighing gently.
Carli was touching up her running eye makeup when a boy with sandy blonde hair stormed in. He looked so pissed off at the world, that she thought it would be a good idea to leave him alone, but good ideas aren't Carli's strong point. So she walked right up to him, looked him straight in the face and said
"You look pissed, so you might not want to talk, but I'm Carli, that's spelt with an "i". Who are you?" She blew a strand of blonde hair out of her vision and awaited an answer.Β
She got out of the taxi that drove her the last couple of miles from the bus stop to camp and payed the rather silent Pakistani the fare and a small tip. She had seen a dashboard picture of his three realy cute daughters. He must have been a proud father. Her dad had had nothing to be proud of last year, after Dennis dumped her for that blonde skank - who doesn't even knows who Kipling is btw... she had given herself over to sex, whiskey and rock 'n roll. She wasn't to proud of that but it is part of her she realizes.
Her bag was full of books and only a minimum on clothes. She would take time to read this summer, and to find her old self again between the memories of drunk - forget your ex - nights and tattoo needles. She took the light green army bag on her back and walked to the check in.
A lady was sitting at the counter, staring at her. "Hi there" she said on an easy but friendly tone. "Name Please". "Euhm Jameson, No! I mean... euhm Mary Sue James!" She stuttered. The little round women chirped about how great it would be here on camp. "yeah great... uhuh" Mary Sue mumpled. She was looking at the map of the camp. There were three cabins she saw. "Okay! Everything is done! Your stay has been payed for!" She kept chirping with a big smile. She looked like a big wheel of cheese in that yellow sweat suit. I guess you could even roll her if you tried... Mary Sue thought. She laughed as the women jumped up from her seat. "I'll show you your cabin! You wil LOVE it here!"
She saw a girl and a boy fighting. They were both quite beautifull but the anger on the guys face made him ugly to Mary Sue. What was his problem? She took the little map out of her pocket and searched for a nice place to sit. Horses or woods and water. She deceided to go for the woods and the water. Just some nice reading in the sun. That's what she needed now!

Reily looked at the girl Anna-Beth who waked in and curled up on a bed.He wanted to say something to comfort her ,but he wasent the type to say anything. He sighed and befan to go for the cabin door."Hey listen I know you dont want to be here, neither do I but theres no need to mope around all day."he sighed again, left the cabin and headed towerd the horse stables to relax and blow off some steem.
"Andrew!" Anna-Beth, tiny, blonde and trembling, came scrambling down towards him, and latched onto his hands, "Andrew, you promised. You promised." She inhaled sharply and automatically burst back into tears, clutching at her brother tightly. "You promised," she said again, and stared up at him. They locked identical eyes, and Andrew slumped, giving in to his sister's wishes.
"There. Now you know my name." He took the smaller girl's hand and dragged her away, down towards the fire pit, trying to support her while she cried. "Anna, you shouldn't have done that..."
"You promised you wouldn't fight, Andrew..."
"I know...I'm sorry." He sighed, face red from anger and embarrassment, and stared at his sister. She was his weak spot, and even though she was his opposite in every way, he couldn't help but adore her. Anna-Beth knew Andrew wasn't such a mean guy, he was just upset at the moment, he didn't like when things didn't go his way.
