A schoolgirl named Carol, and a close friend of Filia. However, one day, she was snatched up by Lab 0's operative, Valentine, as part of Project:Painwheel. Her very soul was weakened to prevent fighting back, and she was equipped with two Parasites - the Gae Bolga, which protrudes tough barbs out of her body, and the synthetic Buer Drive, a lightweight four-bladed device. She was also injected with Skullgirl blood to further strengthen her. To keep the reins in, Lab 0 director Brain Drain used his psychic powers to take command.

Wracked in pain and anger in her new form, Painwheel shows the face of a hateful monster. However, her hatred is mainly centered on Valentine, the one who turned her into this to begin with. Even when in combat, she tries desperately to keep control of herself. Peaceful, happy memories seem to relax her.

"..." Tsan preferred not to give Luca any words. Instead, he reached out to Prominence, using his technopathy to call it to his hand and strike Luca back with it. At that time...

"KNOW PAIN!!!"

Someone flew in from behind Sammael and ran a wheel of four blades into his wings with rapid speed. This someone seemed to be a masked girl with red glowing eyes, said wheel coming from a spine-like appendage on her back.

The blade strikes Luca... who doesn't appear to have any reaction of pain.

"Still reliant on your silly little toys, I see," said Luca.

Meanwhile, Sammael is send into the ground, hard, by the sudden attack. He quickly gets up and turns to the new girl.

"If it isn't Project Painwheel," said Sammael. "The freak even we rejected. All I need to know of pain is written all over your face."

"..." Tsan used Kinetic Lift on Luca, seizing him with a psychokinetic grasp and slamming him into Sammael.

"You...Where is she?!" the girl, Painwheel, growled to Sammael and Luca.

Sammael just flies out of the way of Luca.

"Hmm... you know, I could tell you," said Sammael. "And get nothing from it. But no, I think I prefer leaving you in the dark."

Sammael is suddenly surrounded by an orb of darkness. Numerous tendrils pop out of the orb and lash out at Painwheel. Meanwhile, Luca laughs and gets up.

"And here I thought you actually believed in honorable battles," said Luca. "Instead you just prefer seeing big men get tossed around. Whatever gets you off, I suppose."

"Cutthroat maniacs like you two? You don't deserve honor!" Tsan growled. He activated Photon Shredder, making Prominence's blade whirr like a chainsaw as he brought it down upon Luca several times.

Painwheel took the brunt of the tendrils...barely flinching. It's at this moment that she delivered a barb-covered punch into Sammael, carrying the pain inflicted by his attack.

Luca simply walks up to Tsan and pushes him aside. Rather hard. As in, Tsan goes flying back several feet. He laughs off the pain.

"Hello pot, I'm the kettle, how lovely to meet you," said Luca. "Tell you what, kid. You get one more free shot. Then I'll break you."

The pain of the dark tendrils understandably doesn't do much to the dark orb surrounding Sammael.

"We never were interested in your brains," taunted Sammael.

In her frustration, Painwheel strikes against Sammael with her blades again and again.

Tsan shakily got to his feet, realizing that nothing he does will be able to so much as scratch Luca.

"{catches breath} What...do you ever fight for...?" he panted. "Your only motive...is to destroy...That's all you think of..."

Painwheel's blades soon break the dark orb apart... only Sammael is no longer there.

"Where were you aiming?" asked Sammael, his voice coming from behind Painwheel.

Sammael then swung Perdition at Painwheel's back.

"Fish are made to swim," said Luca, picking up Tsan. "Birds are made to fly. I am made to destroy."

Luca slams Tsan against his knee, shattering the soldier's spine.

"And who are we to deny what we're made for?" asked Luca. "Enjoy your swim."

Luca hurls Tsan towards the sea.

Luca walks over to the struggling Painwheel and Sammael.

"Need any help?" asked Luca.

"Not for this youngling," answered Sammael.

Sammael pulls away from Painwheel, taking Perdition back with him, and lets out a supersonic (and painful) cry much like a raven's caw. Luca covers his ears in pain. Because it's painful. Hey, how many other ways can I use the word "pain"?

Painwheel grasps her head in pain...only for the pain to fuel her anger more. Recovering her stance, she let out a swath of long barbs from her arm into Sammael.
